The big, over-arching philosphy here might be to recognize that the sorts of activities that one might recommend for a more convivial interaction with the world -- more working with hands, less screens, focusing one's energies on projects that feel important and basic -- are also the sorts of activities that we must begin to (re-)learn how to engage in as we transition to a lower-energy society. And that further, these necessary activites, if practiced early, will tend to free us up and create more space for manuevering in the current high-energy society.
